It was quite surprising for the Android world when Motorola rolled out the Android 4.4 KitKat update for their Moto X variants even before the Google Nexus 4 received them. At first it was Verizon, the first carrier to bring KitKat to Moto X, followed by T-Mobile and AT&T.

There is something else which is equally important as a software upgrade for your Android device, it’s nothing other than getting root for the upgraded version. Acknowledgment to XDA Senior Recognized Developer jcase for a root solution for Moto X running the new Android 4.4 KitKat.

Root Moto X Android 4.4 KitKat Update

jcase did this through an exploit package called SlapMyMoto (Beta)the successor of RockMyMoto which he used to root the Moto X after the Android 4.2.2 camera update. SlapMyMoto, since being in its beta stage makes the root procedure a bit sophisticated and requires the skill of a techie. The developer also advices to revert back to Android 4.2.2 in case you mess up with the root procedure. So, be sure you have the necessary backups.

NOTE: You must be on stock firmware before proceeding with the rooting procedure. We will not be responsible for any problems caused by this root procedure.

Head over to the original source at XDA for download links and detailed procedure on rooting Moto X on Android 4.4.

You may post your queries at the original source and they may get answered by the developer himself.
