Even a small mistake committed during the rooting procedure may cause the device to end up in the bricked state. So it is better to know in detail about the method to return to the stock before starting the root. Now, XDA member chris.wueste has posted a guide to return to stock and/or unbrick Nexus 7.

Google Nexus 7 Tablet

This guide is not much a complex one and it takes your Nexus 7 back to the stock within a less time.

Below we have the step by step method to unbrick Google Nexus 7.

Have a backup of all the important files, also make sure that you have ADB and Fastboot drivers installed and working.

  • Download the factory image for the Nexus 7 from here and extract it into the same directory as your ADB and Fastboot executibles.
  • Plug the device to your PC via USB cable.
  • If the device is on the home screen, open a command prompt to your ADB and Fastboot directory and type: ADB reboot bootloader

If the device is off, press and hold both volume keys and the power button for a couple of seconds which will launch the bootloader of the device.

  • Then type the code: fastboot flash bootloader bootloader-grouper-3.34.img
  • Then type: fastboot reboot-bootloader
  • Next type: fastboot -w update
  • If you would like to relock the bootloader considering the warranty or security issues make sure you are in your bootloader screen again and type: fastboot oem lock (optional)
  • If the device doesn’t reboot automatically type: fastboot reboot

Now you have your Nexus 7 back in stock firmware.
