Rooting Acer Iconia A700 is not a sophisticated process which includes downloading and unpacking a file and flashing it through windows command prompt. Given below are two methods to root the device which XDA Members ZeroNull and alx5962 came up with.

Acer Iconia A700

Before starting i would like to advice you that improper execution of this methods may cause problems.

Method 1:

The following method is universally applicable for A700 and A701 tablets.

Now you have root access in your device at first you will have to start the Superuser program and need not install Busybox as it is already installed.

Method 2:

This method is meant only for ICS version of A700 and is with the patched kernel from the tablet.

  • Enable USB debugging.
  • Unlock your bootloader and restart the tablet.
  • Download the archive from here and unzip it somewhere.
  • Open the directory and run the file with administrator rights, enter the code flash – ICS – patchedBoot . bat.

Your device is now rooted, you will need to start the Superuser program at least once after achieving root and install the following programs:

  • Busybox
  • Titanium Backup

Run Busybox and follow the installation steps and during this process Superuser will ask for permission to give BB root access which means that your effort to root the device has become successful.

First method when compared to the second one does not affect the core of the system and allows to receive future firmware updates.
