Samsung Galaxy R, the device which received a lot of criticisms due to its hardware problems can now have the very new Jelly Bean. XDA senior member Adam77Root with the help of senior member karthik050782 has developed an unofficial CyanogenMod 10 port for the device.

CyanogenMod 10

Though in alpha state, it has got an impressive list of things which are working. Below we have the list features which are fully functional :

  • Mobile network
  • Data connection
  • Audio (microphone may or may not work, works for calls but doesn’t for some others like, Google Now voice search.)
  • Wi-Fi
  • Video player (may or may not work)
  • Accelerometer, magnetic field, proximity, battery temperature sensors
  • BLN feature (you need to install either the free or the paid version of BLN Control from Play Store)
  • Auto brightness needs manual workaround
  • USB mass storage

This build satisfies most of the essentials of a normal users. The issues which are yet to be taken care of includes :

  • Camera and apps which require a functional camera. (even the camera app isn’t included)
  • Bluetooth
  • Anything which requires a functional mic except for calls, which aren’t affected.
  • Gyroscope (It is disabled deliberately as it causes issues with deep sleep.)
