LG Optimus 4X HD

Now, XDA senior member alexp999 has a root method for this device. Now your LG Optimus 4X HD is completely open for you for various kinds of customizations on Android 4.0 ICS.

The root method is a little bit tiresome but is easy. Below are the steps to root LG Optimus 4X HD on Android 4.0 ICS firmware :

  • Download the LG USB Drivers and install them.
  • Download and extract the root kit to “C:\o4xr”
  • Download and copy IS11LG_SystemBackupTest.signed.apk to your device.
  • On the device make sure that Unknown Sources are ticked by going to Settings ->Security.
  • Make sure that USB debugging is enables by going to Settings -> Developer options.
  • Then install IS11LG_SystemBackupTest.signed.apk
  • Open the SystemBackup Test app which you just installed.
  • Choose Power off and restart by holding the power on button.
  • Then you may find the device running slowly, need not worry it is quite normal.
  • Connect the device to your PC via USB cable.
  • Open a command prompt, type cd C:\o4xr and press enter.
  • Then type root and press enter.
  • Wait till the device boots automatically.
  • You should then see the command prompt C:\o4xr>
  • Open up Google Play Store in your device and search for SuperSU.
  • Update SuperSU then open it.
  • Press OK to update the SU binary.
  • You now have root and can safely remove the “SystemBackupTest” app, and restore the “Unknown Sources” and “USB debugging” settings back to how you had them.

Finish!
